Welcome to La Groie Distillery, at the heart of creation. Where the savoir-faire of our distillers comes to light.

Our distillation process has remained unchanged for centuries. Between October and March, our distilleries are busy day and night. Passionate artisans fill, monitor, and cosset the traditional Charentais copper stills - transforming wine into eau-de-vie.

Did you know? Double distillation is required to make eaux-de-vie for cognac. In the first, a raw spirit called 'brouillis' is produced.

The second distillation produces a much higher alcohol content. Only the middle part, the ‘heart’, is saved. This clear, colorless liquid is called 'eau-de-vie'.

Back in Cognac's city centre, continue your tour with a visit to one of Hennessy's working ageing cellars, lined with oak casks hand-inscribed in chalk script. In this magical place, gain a better understanding of the ageing process and discover the natural phenomenon known as the “angels’ share”.

You will also have the privilege of visiting the historic 'Paradis' cellar — a repository for some of Maison Hennessy's oldest eaux-de-vie, usually inaccessible to visitors.

To end your experience on a high note, find out more about the 11am daily ritual of our Tasting Committee - an organization for excellence that is unique to Hennessy, and sets us apart from all other cognacs - and join us for a guided tasting of Hennessy X.O neat (paired with a XO-infused chocolate bonbon), and a freshly shaken, VSOP-based seasonal cocktail (paired with a gourmet Comté cheese macaron).

Please note that for health reasons, pets are not allowed on the grounds.
